Ladies…It’s time to celebrate!!!
We made it.
We survived another hunting season. haha I think we deserve an award…a big one!
Some of you may be wondering what the heck I’m talking about, so let me try and clue you in. To put it simply…my husband is an avid outdoorsman who would rather be talking to animals through calls than talking/being around humans. haha sorry hunny. He’s what I call a ‘mountain man’ — he is quite a sexy mountain man though. It’s his passion, escape, life, etc. While I think it is important for every human to have a passion in life — but every weekend?? You’re killin me smalls — I mean having an outdoorsman as a husband has its perks — at least he’s not hunting/pursuing women haha. But this newlywed wants her husband!!! In any marriage, compromise & balance are key and I try hardddd…very hard to love hunting (because I don’t want it to be a bad word in our house). I’ve even gone hunting with him – which isn’t something new for me since, Jess (my twin) & I grew up hunting with our dad…supposedly we were his little girls (boys)!! Which I thank him for every day because we’ve clearly got it all …haha jk jk! This may be one of the reasons why my Husband picked mee!
(this was the hunting inspired groom’s cake at our wedding)–seriously…haha it was beautiful though. Mad props to Jean Phillipe–master chocolatier. It was 100% CHOCOLATE.
It was fun watching my man in his own element — he was like a little 5 yr. old on Christmas morning excited and it was so cute to watch. It made my heart race people. It makes me soo beyond happy that my husband has a passion…haha however there are a few things we need to work on.
First : Duck calling (elk buggling) needs to be at a minimum & not at night or early morning! My husband seems to believe the best time to practice duck calling is every night when he gets home from work, long drives, and on the weekends!!! YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. haha this little gem of mine has even tried to teach me how to duck call…and I might add, I kinda have the teal call down. He thinks it’s sexy when a girl can duck call…I’m really not seeing it, but for the sake of being sexy in his eyes I’ll always give it a try ;] haha talk about a headache people??
Second: The absence of him (you) for 6 MONTHS….I know I’m a Newlywed and I want my husband around because our marriage is supposedly in that stage still–the stage where you actually want to be with your husband 24/7–as opposed to what people?? Haha most women tell me, “you’ll be so thankful one day that your husband leaves you.” Listen ladies…I highly doubt I will learn to love not being with my husband. This season alone I’ve traveled to the not so sunny city of Seattle 4 (FOUR) times, just so I could be with him during the day while he yawned (slept) from waking up early (pulling all nighters). I did create a really great friendship from it though so I guess I have him to thank for that haha…I love you MARIT. It’s always good to have someone who understands the term ‘hunting widow’ as a friend/support system hahaha. If that isn’t true/unconditional love then I don’t know what is.
Sooo back to my point, I will never enjoy being away from my husband–he is my best friend — my main squeeze — my everything! Sorry my mountain man–I love you way too much, to not miss you.
Third: Flipping the switch off — or at least drop it to half staff. haha MEN…we get it, you love talking to animals & seeing them in nature (it is amazing, I get it)…but when you get home we want/need quality time. Quality time can be defined as — a lovely dinner w/ lots of conversation about where WE are going in life, our future, plans, trips. haha this may be a dream but to be honest I just want/need to snuggle up close to my husband at least 10 (15) TIMES out of the hunting season. Ok..ok…I think you get the point. A bubble bath w/ chocolate would be nice too hahahaha ohh I love life.
Ok…ok..enough about hunting. I will be honest though — the absence of my husband during hunting season has forced me to look deeper into myself to find my passion & what makes me happy! Luckily, with a lot of direction and inner work I have found my happiness….and I’m growing in love with god & myself everyday. Sooo, I can halfway thank hunting for that.
Even though hunting season is hard at times…we (ME haha) are both learning/compromising in this journey together and I’m so unebelieveably blessed to be loved by this man everyday. You is my wonderland.
ps. sorry you married a girl who cares to see that smiling face everyday. hehe love your overly excited, jumping on the bed excited, #1 fan–your wife!
I know this post is way off target–but it’s too good to not talk about.
have a lovely saturday people.
love an overly-excited, jumping for joy — hunting widow.
