the little things

I think it’s the little things in life that count. the small gestures, the sweet thoughts, and kind words. The little unexpected things my husband does is what makes me over-joyed (happy wife, happy life) — it may be a magazine he grabbed for me, a new phone case, my fav. candy, sweet text, or just the early morning squeeze and kiss (my. favorite).

Engagement weekend. Best weekend of my life. hands down.

This above anything else tells me, “I’m thinking about you, I loveee you, and I’m so happy you’re by my side”. Lorenzo and I are Newlyweds, but more importantly we are best friends & one BA team!! haha, so some people say our love can still be categorized as in the honeymooner stage, but I think if you ask anyone that has been married for a long time they will agree, that marrying your best friend is the way to go. Lorenzo and I have a pact to remain in that so-called honeymooner stage fo’ life. We are also categorized as the “old married couple” among our peers & siblings — ironic right? haha we are the youngest married couple of our peers and that’s the title we get? haha some people say we’re boring, but honey we don’t see it!! We’re awesome & content I guess. A casual saturday getting stuff done (me-school/blogging/reading, him-hunting research/ watchingsports & working out together) or playing with Nala is what we do & love. We enjoy life & the little things — so we will gladly accept our ‘old-soul’ status of being that “old married couple” haha don’t get me wrong though, we can party all you party people (when it feels right) haha. Anyways, back to Valentine’s day and the little things.

perfect example of a night where drinking felt right. haha our wedding (after-party). best night to date.

If anything, I think the idea of Valentine’s day love should be every day!! why only show your sig. other you love them 1 day a year with a card & roses?? haha I think the small things from the heart are what really make a difference instead of the cliche roses & chocolate (well chocolate is okay) on Valentine’s day because lets face it — it’s expected &boring. haha it’s the unexpected that’s way more fun!! Like going to play putt putt, a picnic, a morning hike, a surprise mini token of love, or maybe even a weekend get-a-way to somewhere close (I am a travel bug–it’s a problem) hehe. I’m telling you — a life of adventure & unexpectedness keeps that flame alive & burning! Growing stronger in love with your faith, your hunk of love, and yourself is where I think true joy lies.

I also believe that we all, me included need to focus of loving ourselves first, because if you don’t love yourself how is anyone else supposed to love you? If anything today is a reminder to love yourself, your body, your soul, and all of your loved ones.

What little things do you enjoy in life & love?

Happy Valentine’s day!! xx. K
