I prefer the word lifestyle to diet, because that’s what it is. I live a healthy & balanced lifestyle, filled with lots of the good stuff and from time to time I indulge on the sweet & savory stuff. Balance is key people. I’ll be honest I eat pretty darn clean about 80-85% of the time but I’m not afraid to dive into some cakes, cookies, mexican food, pizza — oh the list continues.

sunflowers & cupcakes. matched in heaven.
The best part of living this way is that when you do indulge you don’t need/have those guilty feelings because heck, you deserved it! Most of the time I eat these foods, and I eat a lot of them. Check out my SuperFoods list here. During vacation, date nights or on special occasions, I’ll enjoy the pasta’s, pizza, and cakes. However, I usually try to just taste the sweet stuff instead of eating the whole serving. Unless, of course it’s the butter cake from Mastro’s…haha I literally can’t just have one bite–haha good thing I only eat there like 3x a year.
I truly believe that if you eat really clean a majority of the time & get your sweat on 5x a week that when you want to enjoy the night out with the girls or whenever you want to enjoy that pizza — you should!
Don’t consume yourself with it- because it’s not worth it. I don’t count calories because I just eat the clean & good foods and to be honest when you live this type of healthy lifestyle, that junk food becomes less and less appealing.
Next time you are feeling hungry ask yourself why?? is it boredom, sadness, guilt, etc. fueling you — think are you hungry enough to eat an apple? if you are-eat one! but don’t let your mind & emotions mess with your eating habits — because one main reason why people become unhappy with their weight is because they turn to food as an outlet. I’ve got a new outlet for youu–RUN (orwalk) when your emotions are getting the best of you. at work? take a walk around the block when those coworkers are taking their grosso cig. breaks. You will feel better and be filled with all those endorphins :]
Being balanced allows you to feel happy with all of your choices because it is all allowed in moderation friends. So love yourself & start your healthy and more balanced lifestyle today.
you all are beautiful – no matter where you are in your journey, embrace it!

Beautifully put and so so true
thanks lovely :]
It just so happens balance is my favorite word! I indulge alllllll the time, I have to! I do like to earn my sweets with a good run, or at least a long walk. I eat pasta a lot, and bread is my best friend!
haha I agree — balance is just such a great adj., verb, etc. trust me, I enjoy it all too!
So so so important to have balance! I totally agree. Yes certain foods are more toxic and yes certain foods have less nutrition. However, the guilty feeling from eating them once in a while is more toxic then the food itself! I also think looking down on others for their eating habits is also a toxic behavior which happens when you go to the extremes.
I couldn’t agree more! thanks for your thoughts pretty :]
Yes I totally agree! Although, for me I know that cheating usually means large amounts of cheating, so restricting “works” better for my personality. One day I will have the self control to only have one macaroon, but for now I have to stick with none!
that’s a great approach too, being honest with yourself is always a plus in your journey :]
I do the same thing! I try to eat as healthy as I can for about 80%, then indulge without guilt for the rest. It’s the best way to be
I agree :] such a happy way of living!
I highly agree. When people comment on my eating habits at work, I get offended. Yes, I eat healthy at work. It’s lunch time and I pack a lunch (I’m a teacher–we get 30 mins if we are lucky). They don’t see me on the weekends or at dessert time. I enjoy life & I enjoy food… Now where is that frozen yogurt?!?!
Totally agree! When you stop looking at it like a diet and just make good, healthy choices for yourself it becomes easier and more rewarding too.
