5 simple, yet effective ways to detox your beautiful bod!

After a long vaycay or rough weekend – I always need to turn off the jets and get back to neutral…because let’s face it on vacation you enjoy yourself & we should!!

Here are 5 simple, yet effective ways I rid my body of all the toxins and get back to neutral:

- hot lemon water or hot lemon tea — just add 1/2 lemon to hot tea or water, the lemon helps detoxify your body–giving you that extra boost.

-lots & lots of green juice — all the nutrients your body needs to get back to A, plus they are so good for you.

-raw food (I’m loving this veggie packed mediterranean lentil bowl-recipe on the blog tomorrow)

- a sweaty workout, take a spin class/yoga/pilates/or run!

- epson salt & lavender bath (details here)

Yesterday, I jumped right back into it with a hot pilates class — haha it was a little bold but I like diving right back into it. Needless to say my body needs an epson salt bath stat & lots & lots of this tasty goodness.

6 go-to Snacks I’m Currently in Love with…

Hey beautiful friends,

Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your week! The weather in Vegas right now has a lot of personality…haha wind, rain, and more wind! I’ll enjoy its loud outgoing self for now, considering we don’t get enough rain if you ask me.

This weekend was the halfway point for my Basi Pilates comprehensive course — and I can’t believe it’s half-way done. It’s been such a great experience, with lots of new faces & intense Pilates moves it makes for a happy yet leepy monday morning.

When things get busy we need easy and filling snacks — thats why I’m sharing 5 snacks that I’m currently in love with. Since cutting dairy out of my diet a few months ago it really changed up my snack eating options. No more greek yogurt? WTF. haha I’ll let that topic go for now…..here’s what Sartini Squared has been enjoying as of late:

1. Sliced Apples, Cinnamon, & Almond Butter

2.Rice Cakes & Almond Butter

3. Carrots & Celery w/ Nacho Cheez Sauce – Recipe here

4. Corn & Bean Salsa w/ a few corn tortilla chips (guilty pleasure) – Recipe here

5. Earth Balance Coconut & peanut spread by the spoonful — haha no but seriously.

6. Green Juice!!!!! Recipe here

haha as you can tell we are in love with nut butters, but why not?? If you enjoy them in moderation they are great. As for the corn and bean salsa — I try and make a huge bowl of this weekly so I can grab something quick in the afternoon if I’m hungry because it’s filled with fiber rich beans & tons of veggies – it’s a must. As for the Nacho Cheez Sauce, if you haven’t tried a cashew based cheez sauce — you might be missing out, actually you are.

Taco Chili w/ Nacho Cheez Sauce

Happy Tuesday Loves!

Taco Chili with Nacho Cheeze Sauce

Chili adapted from Oh She Glows

Yield: 7 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 small onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
  • 1 cup dry kidney beans (or 2 cups cooked)
  • 1 cup dry black beans (or 2 cups cooked)
  • 1 large zucchini diced
  • 1 cup of broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground chili powder
  • One 5.5 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 & 1/4 cup frozen corn kernels
  • One 28-oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp homemade taco seasoning (or packaged seasoning, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh Cilantro
  • heaping 1/4 cup Nacho Cheeze Sauce (below)
  • To garnish: Nacho cheeze sauce, crushed tortilla chips, and non-dairy cheese

Directions:

1. Cook the beans if necessary. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the onion and garlic in a very large skillet over low-medium heat until translucent,  about 5 minutes.

2. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, followed by the tomato paste and frozen corn. Cook for a few minutes on low.

3. Add the canned tomatoes and Cilantro and stir well. Add zucchini & broccoli. When the beans are cooked, drain them, rinse, and stir into chili. Slowly add the homemade taco seasoning (or store bought) to taste until desired taste is achieved. Simmer on low-medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, make your cheeze sauce (below).

4. Stir in a heaping 1/4 cup of the Nacho Cheeze Sauce and serve with crumbled tortilla chips, non-dairy cheese (I used Daiya), and Cilantro garnish. Makes 7 cups.

Since I’ve stopped cooking with meat – I have been trying to fill a void. That void is taco tuesday — I seriously can’t get enough of the mexican flavors, fresh ingredients, salsa and guacamole. So when I came across this recipe I knew that this would def. fill my mexican food taco tuesday cravings. Plus, all the added beans for protein & tons of veggies keep you felling full & satisfied. Not to mention the amazing cashew cheez sauce — where has it been my whole life? I now have a container specifically for nacho cheez because I put it on everything…it just makes sense.

hope you all are smiling & enjoying your day.

Love. K
